LeapFrog Tag Reader
Wonderful Educational Toy For Young
Children
The Leapfrog tag reader is a touch-and-talk, pen-like device that brings the special tag reader books to
life. Tag reader is unique and fun. Check the demo below to see it in action.
The Leap frog tag reader works with a library of books and games from LeapFrog and more can be
downloaded from the internet. One included book features the rhyming adventures of Ozzie Otter and his playful
animal friends. Text for this book is pre loaded onto the tag reader.
Using the Leap Frog tag reader system the child simply touches the tip of the tag reader, which contains a small
camera, to the specially printed books. This words will then be sung or spoken out loud.
The Tag reader camera identifies words and symbols on the pages, giving kids lots of options. Children can pick
between starting a story at the beginning and having it read all the way through, playing a page at a time, or
reading themselves and using the Tag reader to hear single, tricky words spoken aloud. This last option inspires
kids to try reading books they might otherwise avoid, since the Tag reader is always there to help them out.
Virtually everywhere a child touches in the books, something happens. Funny voice-overs and cool sound effects
add to the fun of discovery. Reading becomes an exciting and rewarding activity. It also gives Mom and Pop a
break!
The leapfrog tag reader connects to a PC or Mac and will hold up to 5 books' worth of content. More tag
audio books can be purchased on line and easily downloaded. Currently there are more than 20 books in the
online library and new ones are on the way.

"Keeps the kids quiet while they learn!," 5 Sep 2008
"This kept my 4 year old quiet for the entire 2 ½ hour journey to my parents last weekend,
an absolute feat on it's own. Then you can add to the fact that Tag is teaching her to read too and
I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Now she's bugging me to buy her more of the books that go with
it." (London, England)
"Excellent educational game for kids," 17 Jan 2009
"Best of all though, is the learning system you get if you install the software on your computer
and register the product. You can see exactly how your kids have performed with the pen. Its all
automatic. Why something like this can't be used in the national curriculum is beyond me. Imagine
the reduction in workload for teachers if a lot of the donkeywork was automatic!
Um, anyway, even if installing the accompanying software etc is not normally your cup of tea,
I recommend you do so, as once you have registered the tag, it downloads some updated software,
presumably fixing some bugs. Also, if you buy another of the books to go with the tag, (and if you
don't, why did you buy the thing in the first place) then you will need the computer link in order
to download the voices etc for the new book. " (UK)
