Best Toys for Active 2 Year Olds

Let’s face it, 2 year olds have a lot of energy. Sometimes more than you know what to do with. This can make it difficult for them to focus and for you choosing toys quite tricky. That’s why I put together a list of toys that will help burn off energy while keeping young kids engaged, learning and having fun.

Please note: I am a participant of the Amazon Services Associates Program and have included “affiliate links” for all the toys. This means that when you click the pictures or links provided and make a purchase, I receive a small commission on the toy at no extra cost to you. You can read more about the Amazon Associates Program here.

Crawling through tunnels and playing in ball pits is a great way to get energy out for younger kids. Choosing colors that are more neutral is a good idea, because they are less visually overstimulating and distracting, which can create a more calming play experience.

2)

These open-ended blocks are lightweight which allows kids to manipulate them as well as climb and crawl through them. Playing with these blocks helps develop gross motor skills, encourages problem-solving, teaches about balance, and promotes imaginative play.

3)

These Jumbo Textured Shape Blocks are super fun to feel, stack and explore. They are great for building upper body strength and developing coordination. Place them around a room and ask a child to pick them up and carry them to a designated spot in order to stack them.

4)

Trampolines are an excellent way to keep 2 year olds active while having fun. To make the activity more challenging see if they can hit a balloon back to you or catch a large ball while jumping.

5)

If you’re looking for something more sturdy that will stay in place, this mini-gym would be perfect. Kids can jump, crawl, and climb on these shapes, perfect for keeping them busy and having fun. You can add additional toys such as tunnels to create mini obstacle courses and form new challenges. There are endless play possibilities here. This also comes in smaller and larger sets. Tip: Move the pieces around frequently to create new adventures so that it remains engaging and interesting.

Bubbles may not be something you first consider when looking for toys for active two year olds, but just think about how much running around and spinning it requires to catch and pop them.
